• Mourning = time in which people worship sb. who has recently died.
• To gather = to join together.
• Liar = who lies repeatedly.
• Request = sth. sb. ask for.
• Lecture = long speech.
• Envelope = in which letters are given.
• Remains = what is left.
• Pinnacle = high peak.
• Abyss = large and deep hole on earth.
• Hatchet = small axe.
• Footprint = which is made by sb. who steps the ground.
• Pool = puddle.
• Ape = animal which belongs to monkey's family.
•  To whisper = to talk softly.
• Trap = stratagem.
• To embrace = to hug.
• Clerk = worker.
• Beak = which birds have on their mouth.
• Cheek = part of the face that swells when sb. is chewing.

• To be sacked = to dimiss.
• To apply for a job = request a job.
• Working day = that which is not day off.
